Since 1983, the SDSU Institute for Transformative Education (formerly Pre-College Institute) has set up partnerships between federally funded TRIO programs, public schools, and academic departments at the University. The Institute for Transformative Education serves 29 middle and high schools across 3 San Diego school districts (San Diego Unified, Sweetwater Union and Grossmont).
